Popular Tahoe-area author Todd Borg will be at the Coleville Library 3 p.m., Sept. 9, to present a talk and sign copies of his newest book, "Tahoe Night." Mr. Borg has written a series of mystery novels set in Lake Tahoe, all of which have been highly praised by book reviewers. This event is sponsored by the Antelope Valley Friends of the Library, who invite current members, prospective members, and those who would like to meet Mr. Borg, to come to the library that afternoon.

Celebration of life

Last Saturday, a sad but heartwarming celebration of the life of Michele Hinds of the Mountainview BBQ was held outdoors at the Hinds home. There were many, many local people attending, as Michele and Jeff have run the barbecue since 1994 and have known the local residents for all those years. We are saddened by Michele's passing and wish the very best to Jeff and their daughters, Melanie and Amanda.

Coleville football

Our high school played their first regular game Saturday afternoon and came away with an impressive win. They bested Smith Valley 76-18. Good going, guys. Their next game at home will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, against Round Mountain. Try to get there and enjoy watching these kids play ball.

Art sale, exhibit and wine tasting

The Northern Mono Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring an art sale and exhibit, as well as wine tasting, Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Walker Community Building. It will take place from 6-8 p.m., and a $25 donation will include a souvenir wine glass, as well as appetizers provided by various area restaurants to go along with the wine tasting. The only requirement is that you be over 21 years of age to attend.

Trout in the river

Our local chamber of commerce has been making sure that there are fish in the river to be caught, with regular plants. You really should get out there and try your luck. My husband, Mike, has caught some very nice ones, and there are plenty more out there.
