Families are invited for refreshments, photos with Casey the Crocodile and tours of Austin's House at the facility's second anniversary, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 12, at 3589 N. Sunridge Drive, behind the Douglas County Sheriff's Office substation.
The construction of Austin's House was made possible entirely through donations from the community. Austin's House has provided care for more than 80 children in need since opening in September 2007.
Austin's House provides services for up to 10 children from infants to age 18. Children are placed at Austin's House after being removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Austin's House provides basic living necessities of proper nutrition, hygiene, rest, nurturing, recreation, companionship, life skills training and education.
