Disabled American Veterans hold their annual fundraiser with the sale of forget-me-nots at Raley's, Smith's and Scolari's, all day though Saturday from 8 a.m. Money raised goes to help local veterans. Information, Nancy Rowan, commander of Unit 7 of Carson City, 265-2531.


Becca Shines show benefits Gardnerville student

The Becca Shines show is 7 p.m. Saturday at Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School, 701 Long Valley Road, Gardnerville. Fundraiser canceled

The Knights of Columbus and Skin Cancer Awareness Foundation's Kool Valley Nites fundraiser to be held on Sept. 19 at St. Gall Pastoral Center has been canceled. Ticket purchases will be refunded. Information, Bill Barth, 230-4065.


Museum day in Genoa

Free concert at James Lee Park

A free concert featuring Hired Gunz is 6-10 p.m. Saturday at James Lee Park in Indian Hills. Hired Gunz play '60s classics to current rock 'n' roll. Food and beverages available for purchase. Photo Club meets Tuesday

Carson Valley Photo club meets 6:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. Speaker is from Gordon's Photo Service in Carson City. The theme for the photo club's September contest is "yard art." Pictures must be 8-by-10 or 8 1⁄2-by-11 inches and must have been taken Aug. 11 to Sept. 8. New members and visitors welcome. Teen dance Sept. 11

Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department sponsors a teen dance for sixth-to eighth-grade students, 6:30-9 p.m. Sept. 11, at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Building. DJ music by Bill McClain's Mobile Music. Cost of $10 includes a pizza slice and drink. Snacks available for purchase.
