New Minden nursery hosts open house

Allie and Friends, a new infant/toddler nursery in Minden, is hosting an open house 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The nursery is currently accepting children 6 weeks of age through 3 years.

Shear Heaven Salon Da Spa in Gardnerville has three new stylists

Leah Skinner accepts walk-ins for cuts, styling, perms, color and pedicures.

"I have been doing hair for two years in Carson City," she said.

Skinner is available 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.

Minden resident Ilona Phillips is a cosmetologist, aesthetician and hair stylist. She has been in the business for seven years.

"I love all aspects of the industry and have extensive training in aesthetics (facials, micro-dermabrasion, face and body waxing, chemical peels), hair cutting, coloring, highlights and men's cuts," she said. "I also do make-up and pedicures."

Carson City resident Kelly Goodson is a licensed manicurist offering acrylic and gel nail extensions, manicures, spa pedicures and gel toes.

"I offer hand-painted acrylic nail art and airbrushing," she said.

Goodson is available 12:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and 2:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Elations Salon, which moved next to the Historian Inn in Gardnerville last November, is enjoying the downtown setting.

"We are participating in the wine walks," said owner Laurie Sousa. "Everyone in the salon has years of experience. So we like to make our services all about the clients. We have a fun, relaxed, quaint environment."
