St. Gall Catholic Church celebrates 90 years in Carson Valley with Mass with Bishop Randolph Calvo at 10 a.m. Sunday in the pastoral center followed by a traditional Basque lunch and games for children.
On June 22, 1919, with Bishop Thomas Grace presiding, the church was dedicated to St. Gall and the sacrament of confirmation was administered for the first time.
The parish had grown to approximately 60 families and the first rectory was acquired by the late 1950s. Registered parish families grew to about 400 at the time of dedication of the new church on Centerville Lane in l984. St. Gall Catholic Community currently has a membership of 1,456 families.
