Douglas County School trustees will discuss Superintendent Carol Lark's request for a 2.5 percent raise retroactive to July 1. They are also scheduled to hear reports on Minden Elementary, on summer school and from Sheriff Ron Pierini on Drug Awareness Resistance Education. The board meets 3:30 p.m. at Douglas High School media center.

It looks like a light meeting for Douglas County planning commissioners today. The Ranch at Gardnerville is seeking to modify its development schedule so that the last phase won't be recorded until 2027. Also on the agenda is a request by Hamdogs for non-restricted gaming use. Planning commissioners meet at 1 p.m. in the Douglas County Administrative Building, 1616 Eighth St.

We've had our cooling and now it's time to heat up. Today's forecast is for sunny skies with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s over the next week. Lows are in the upper 40s. Looks like the tomatoes are safe for another week.
