In a matchup between the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in Northern Nevada, the Douglas girls' soccer team came away with an impressive win Tuesday afternoon in Minden.
Kyra Barth scored a pair of goals each to lead Douglas to a 5-3 win over the second-ranked Truckee Wolverines, who were down to 12 players for the game due to the flu.
Truckee got on the board in the first minute of the game on an unassisted goal, but Douglas answered three minutes later when Barth scored on an assist from Katie Dry.
Truckee regained the lead in the 11th minute but Barth scored again in the 17th minute on an assist from Alex Laing.
Holly Downer scored on an assist from Barth in the 26th minute and Laing scored less than a minute later on an unassisted goal. Jessica Vega wrapped up Douglas' scoring in the 31st minute on an unassisted goal.
Truckee added a goal in the 38th minute to complete an eventful first half, but both teams' defenses clamped down for second-half shutouts.
Brianna Randall had 15 saves for Douglas in the win as the Lady Tigers improved to 7-0 on the year.
