The Douglas High School boys' soccer team extended its win streak to four games Monday afternoon, capturing a 3-2 victory over No. 9 North Tahoe at the Lake.
Douglas' Cole Cline scored the game's first goal in the box in heavy traffic during the fifth minute. The Lakers tied things up in the 26th when Freddy Ramirez scored off a Zack Rickenback corner kick.
About a minute later, Douglas went ahead again with a goal by Edgar Arceo on an assist by Ivan Gonzalez.
North Tahoe continued the flurry of action about two minutes after that as Salvador Avila tied the game at 2 on a penalty kick.
Douglas went ahead for good less than a minute later as Arceo blasted an impressive shot from about 25 yards out to take the lead.
Neither team touched the scoreboard in the second half as the two defenses clamped down on the scoring opportunities.
"I'm not satisfied with our effort," Douglas coach Milko Vasquez said. "To me, the most positive thing is we always responded to their goals, which shows character."
