The Coleville football team jumped out to a 46-0 lead in the first quarter Saturday before coasting to a 74-0 victory over the hosting McDermitt Bulldogs.
In one quarter of play, quarterback Jason Peters was 6-for-6 passing for 84 yards and three touchdowns. Emmi Sandoval was on the receiving end of all three of those touchdown plays and ended his short day with 68 receiving yards.
Tailback John "Buh" Hamilton rushed for 100 yards on nine carries including touchdown runs of 3 yards and 17 yards. Hamilton also caught one pass for a 27-yard touchdown.
Sophomore backup quarterback Cody Clark took advantage of extended playing time passing for 68 yards including 3 touchdowns.
Freshman receiver Rey Robles caught his first carrier touchdown pass, a 24-yard pass from Clark.
Mat Randall also found the end zone, rushing for a 17-yard score in the fourth quarter.
Defensively Coleville's younger players dominated the day statistically led by linebacker Tyler Summers with two solos, three assists, and two interceptions. Summers returned one of his interceptions 12 yards for his first career touchdown. Lucas Vasquez with three assists, Randall with two solos and three assists, David Sandoval with one solo and two assists, and Josiah Huhta with one solo and one assist all played very well.
"The first team barely broke a sweat playing with most of them playing less than one quarter because of the nature of the game," Coleville coach Will Sandy said. "It provided our younger players with an extended opportunity to play and I was very happy with their performance."
