Douglas High junior Bethany Wurster fired an impressive 73 to take her second tournament victory of the season Wednesday at the Arrowcreek Golf Course in Reno.

She finished five strokes ahead of Manogue's Alex Phillips, who placed second.

"Bethany played pretty well today," Douglas coach Steve Gustafson said. "Arrowcreek can be a tough course. There is a lot of high grass, elevation changes, sagebrush areas and faster-than-normal greens. She had a few birdies and an eagle on the day."

Douglas had a team score of 457 on the day, which was good enough for sixth out of eight.

First-year players Kesley Endter (115), Megan Welch (133), Emily Downer (136), Brianne Burnside (136) and Maddy Gilbert (147) all showed improvement.

"The kids overall were pleased with how they played today, as am I," Gustafson said. "They learned a lot, great experience for such a young squad.

"Megan, Bri and Maddy also carded their first pars in their high school careers. That's a major accomplishment."

Manogue won the overall match with a score of 336.
