EDITOR:
Several business owners, property owners and local residents are opposed to a new (any name) box store in Gardnerville.
When reading the language of the Virginia Ranch plan and the requirements for project approval, it was very clear that any proposed development abide by these requirements as well as local ordinances.
The proposed plan is in conflict with several conditions including but not limited to:
1. Undesirable elements - Square, boxlike buildings.
2. Village main street, theme.
3. Will not be detrimental to the general welfare of the county.
4. Will maintain the nature and feel of a small town.
It is my belief that any other proposed business or plan would be held to the requirements of the Virginia Ranch plan and I strongly object to any special exceptions being extended to the proposed Walmart superstore.
