The fifth-ranked Douglas High volleyball team extended its win streak to three matches Wednesday night, beating No. 7 McQueen 23-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-14 in a non-league match in Minden.
The Tigers got a balanced effort from its attack as Shannon Dugan, Brenna White and Emily Garcia each posted 10 kills. Christine DuPuis, Becca Antti and Erin Allison each had seven kills and Jourdan Burke had six.
Jackie Harper had 33 assists while Hailey Sclafani had 12.
Defensively, Garcia led the team with 12 blocks and Mysta Townsell came up with 12 digs.
Also for Douglas (11-2 overall), Mia Townsell had seven digs, Keely Latham had two blocks and Nikki Chavez had a pair of digs.
Jamie Palotai led McQueen with eight kills.
The Douglas junior varsity volleyball team took a 25-23, 25-17 non-league win over McQueen Wednesday night in Minden.
Savannah Wood had six kills, four blocks and three digs and Renee Allen had five assists. Karyn Eck had five digs and Christi Crozier had four kills as well.
The Douglas High freshman squad stepped up its play on Wednesday for a win against McQueen after losing 2-1 to Galena on Tuesday.
"The girls have huge heart and are learning to compete," coach David Trujillo said.
For the week, Hayley Cline had 10 kills and five aces, Shawnee McFadden had five kills and five aces, Jasmyn Peterson had six kills, Dani Schmidt had three assists, Jenna Broussard had three kills and two aces, Kenzie Parks had two aces, Illiana Brown had one kill and 14 assists and Sydney Patterson, Katie Kleuver, Daylin Olson, Taylor Bailey and Breana Lummus each had one kill.
