A memorial service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville for World War II veteran and East Valley resident John A. Didero, 89, who died Sept. 19, 2009.

Born Feb. 24, 1920 to Pete P. and Margaret (Rudellat) Didero, he spent his life running the family cattle ranch in Southeastern Colorado, was a flight instructor in the Army Air Forces during World War II, and often spoke fondly of his flying experiences and memories.

Mr. Didero attended Trinidad State Junior College where he played football and later attended Colorado State University.

He had a loving smile, sense of humor and devotion to family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Eva Marie Hodges and first wife, Rose.

He is survived by wife Louise; two daughters and sons-in-law Monique and Loren Blaney and Paula Didero and Bill Johnson; and granddaughters Nicole, Katelin and Emily.

A graveside service will be held in Trinidad, Colo.
