A 22-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos man who said he'd been injecting heroin daily for six months was sentenced Wednesday to Douglas County Jail for possession of drug paraphernalia.
East Fork Justice Jim EnEarl sentenced Matthew Price to six months in Douglas County Jail to include inpatient drug treatment.
"He needs help," said Tod Young, Price's lawyer. "To his credit, he told me he needs help."
Price told EnEarl he had been using heroin for two years, the last six months intravenously.
Following successful completion of treatment, EnEarl said he would bring Price back to review his sentence.
"It's going to be hard," EnEarl said. "You are going to have to be committed to it (treatment), or it won't work."
Price was arrested Sept. 19 following an altercation with his mother. Deputies found a bent spoon and two hypodermic needles in his pocket.
