Teen seeks drug court in larceny case

An 18-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos man accused of taking cash, checks and receipts from an office where he worked as a laborer, is to plead guilty to larceny on Oct. 13 in District Court.

Andrew Brandon DeWitt waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday in East Fork Justice Court.

As part of a plea agreement, DeWitt is to request admission to Western Regional Drug Court.

He told Justice Jim EnEarl he used marijuana and occasionally cocaine and hallucinogenic mushrooms.

The alleged victim told sheriff's investigators she noticed $2,000 in cash missing in two envelopes in her office when she returned after a four-day vacation in July.

DeWitt, reportedly admitted taking $100 in January and $500 from the two envelopes in July. He was arrested in August.

According to reports, deputies recovered evidence from his Gardnerville Ranchos home.
