RENO, Nev. (AP) - Nevada football coach Chris Ault says the Wolf Pack likely will be without starting running back Vai Taua for Saturday's game against rival UNLV.
Ault said Monday that Taua dislocated his elbow in Friday night's 31-21 loss to Missouri and he doesn't expect him to play against the Rebels at Mackay Stadium. He said he hopes he will be back when Nevada opens league play Oct. 8 against Louisiana Tech.
The Wolf Pack are 0-3 after losses to Notre Dame, Colorado State and Missouri. But Ault told about 75 boosters and his weekly coach's luncheon they have played some tough teams and have improved each week. He said quarterback Colin Kaepernick especially stepped it up against the Tigers. He said turnovers continue to be the team's worst enemy.
