A 40-year-old Gardnerville man changed his plea Monday, admitting a third charge of domestic battery that mandates prison.
James Dew III was set for trial Nov. 17, but accepted a plea agreement with the district attorney's office.
In exchange for his guilty plea as charged, prosecutors agreed to recommend 12 months to three years in Nevada State Prison, concurrent to the time he is serving for a justice court conviction on a probation violation.
The victim alleged he threatened to kill her on July 7.
Dew, on probation for two convictions this year for the same offense, is serving six months in Douglas County Jail for alcohol consumption in violation of his probation.
The state won't oppose giving Dew credit for time served since his arrest in July.
He faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Dew is ineligible for probation.
District Judge Michael Gibbons set sentencing for Nov. 9.
