An investigator from the Nevada state fire marshal's office is on the scene of a one-acre fire this morning in the treeline a half-mile east of the Stateline casinos.
Despite winds of gusting at nearly 50 mph, the fire was extinguished at 11:45 a.m. about 90 minutes after it was reported.
Douglas County Sgt. Jim Halsey said the fire was contained to Bureau of Lane Management property.
He said mop-up crews from Tahoe Douglas Fire and East Fork Fire & Paramedic districts remained on scene.
Shortly after the fire was reported at 10:25 a.m., officials advised residents and businesses to be ready to evacuate lower Kingsbury Grade.
Evacuations were not necessary, Halsey said.
No homes were located in the immediate area, but the fire appeared to be burning northeast, toward the residential area of lower Kingsbury Grade.
Deputies, sheriff's posse and search and rescue volunteers were on the scene of the fire, a half a mile east of the casinos in downtown Stateline.
