Howard Jachens has accepted a position with Tahoe Ridge Winery & Marketplace as executive chef/director of food and beverage.

Jachens is a 30-plus-year resident of the Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley area.

He was born and raised on a large vineyard in the Napa Valley and always had a passion for food and wine.

Jachens graduated from the San Francisco Culinary Academy and has worked for the Mark Hopkins Hotel and Iron Horse Restaurant in San Francisco before moving to Lake Tahoe to work at the Sahara Tahoe Resort (now Horizons Casino), Caesars Tahoe (now Mont Bleu Casino) and then on to owning his own restaurant venture in South Lake Tahoe known as Zackary's, which he sold off approximately 14 years ago to Embassy Suites Hotel.

More recently, Jachens has been the food and beverage director for David Walley's Resort Hot Springs and Spa, where he headed up all food and beverage operations for the restaurant and deli.

He was instrumental in developing David Walley's on and off-site catering operations.

"We are excited to have Howard and his vast expertise on board to assist in developing the Tahoe Ridge Winery food and wine program," said Tahoe Ridge CEO Rick Halbardier.
