Junior golf underway at Carson Valley golf Course

Carson Valley Golf course is gearing up for its Junior Golf Spring Program for golfers age 5-16. The one-day Introduction to Junior Golf is April 17. The six-week Junior Spring program begins April 19. The basics covered at the April 17 introductory clinic include swing, chipping, putting, and etiquette. Clubs and refreshments are provided. Cost is $20. Register with Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department at 782-9828.

The six-week junior spring program is Wednesdays at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. as well as Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Golfers participate once weekly for 50 minutes and are grouped based upon age and experience. The cost is $130 and includes instruction, use of clubs, and a Junior Range pass, which is a $29 value.

Space is limited for the clinic and preregistration is required. Sign-ups are available in the pro shop at the course or by calling 265-3181. Discounts are available for those with more than one child participating, and they also offer special green fee rates for juniors and families.

There are many positive reasons for encouraging your youngster to play golf. In addition to teaching good judgment and personal responsibility, there is a strong emphasis on integrity, courtesy, respect and good sportsmanship. It's a great family activity and a wonderful way to get out and enjoy our beautiful area.

Also, the $2 golf stimulus bill has returned. From now until April 30, pay a regular green fee and receive a $2 bill. The golf course encourages you to spend it at a local business as part of their commitment to supporting people and jobs in our area.

Great food fast at Pronto Pizza

Have you tried the yummy offerings at Pronto Pizza yet? They have great pizza at a competitive price and the employees have all been friendly and helpful each time I've called in an order or visited the store.

In addition to pizza, the menu includes hearty salads, bread bowl pastas, oven-baked sandwiches and chicken wings.
