EDITOR:
My son is 15, in ninth grade and has been a student at Sierra Crest Academy for 2 1/2 years now.
The school has made a huge difference in his life; he has good grades and can keep up with what is going on and keep focused on projects. It is more his pace to have the one-on-one attention when need be.
My son has a close relationship with all the staff and feels very comfortable to be able to talk to them with any situations.
I feel if my son was in a less intimate setting he may not get the education he needs and be too distracted. My husband and I are very worried and concerned for his education and social life if SCA shuts down.
We are worried he'll get sucked in the socialism and be too distracted and won't be able to keep up in another school as Douglas High and give up.
We both feel the academy is the school for him and it can provide the education he needs. My son has goals in life, with the academy staying open he may have a better chance at meeting those goals and staying on task.
