One of two men who admitted to trying to force someone to sign over a truck in exchange for a tattoo, is scheduled to be sentenced today.

Robert Pierce, 32, faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine in Douglas County District Court this morning.

Pierce, and north Valley resident Timothy Young, 27, are accused of attempting to collect on a debt by taking the debtor out to the desert above Johnson Lane and striking him.

A man who admitted tying his 82-year-old mother to a chair and taking her money faces up to 35 years in prison this morning. Gregory Kovener, 59, pleaded guilty Feb. 22 to one count of robbery in connection. The crime carries a sentence of 15 years, but because of the victim's age Judge Michael Gibbons could add another 20 years.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. today as snow continues to fall in parts of Carson Valley. As much as 5 inches of snow fell in the foothills overnight. Expect roads to be slick in the Valley. Road controls are in effect on roads in the mountains.

Snow is likely to fall before 11 a.m. The weather should be mostly cloudy with a high temperature of 43 degrees. Winds will pick up at 15-20 mph with gusts as high as 35 mph. The National Weather Service is saying accumulations during the day today will be less than an inch.
