Dangberg Home Ranch Park now open for tour season

Tour season opens today for the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, located west of Minden on Highway 88.

The park features buildings constructed between 1857 and 1916, including the 15-room main residence, once one of the most prominent homes in Carson Valley.

Park tours include a presentation on the Dangberg family history and their role in the development of Carson Valley.

The collection includes furniture, clothing, books, dishes, artwork, photographs, phonographs and farm equipment from four generations of the family.

One-hour tours are 10 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday, with additional 2 p.m. tours Saturdays and Sundays.

Make required reservations at dangbergranch@parks.nv.gov or 783-9417.

Tours are limited to 10 people, but larger groups may request special arrangements in advance.

Tour admission is $3 for adults and free for children 12 and younger.

The Dangberg Home Ranch was settled by Carson Valley pioneer Heinrich Friedrich Dangberg Sr., in 1857.
