Anne Vondruska of Whole Birth Yoga and Support is offering prenatal and postpartum yoga at the Yoga Loft in Gardnerville.
"I offer gentle yoga and support for the expecting mother and gentle, fun yoga and support after the baby is born," said Vondruska.
Vondruska, who's lived in Douglas County for more than three years, started the business in November.
"I was born and raised in Norway, but lived in Silicon Valley for almost 17 years prior to coming here," she said. "I have been a massage therapist for 20 years, doula for 12 years, and I've taught yoga for pregnant women for seven years."
Vondruska said the training she's received is specifically designed to be safe and provide a great way for pregnant women to meet other like-bodied women.
"They get to be 100 percent pregnant for 1 1/2 hours a week where everyone there can relate as they go through their discomfort in a supportive and safe setting," she said.
Prenatal yoga is 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, and mommy and baby yoga (daddy too) is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday starting April 14.
Vondruska is also organizing a couples workshop 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 14.
"The couples will do couple yoga, do some art around our fear in birth and also do some pain management skills," Vondruska said. "It's a great time for the couples to connect deeply and bond with the baby on the way."
The Yoga Loft is located in the Mountain View Center at 1528 Highway 395, suite 200. For more information, call (775) 443-7888 or visit www.familybirthing.com.
