EDITOR:
I am wring to urge everyone to become a organ donor.
Many of you know me as the lady with the purple fingernails at the county transfer station (the dump). My daughter, Denise has suffered with cystic fibrosis since birth. On Nov. 7, 2009, she received a double lung transplant.
As soon as I got the word I went to her and stayed for two months to take care of her. Words cannot express my gratitude to the family of her lung donor.
Denise has been a teacher in Southern California since 1998.
She continued teaching until last year, when she became too sick to continue. She and her husband have not been up here to visit her father and I since 2008, because it was too difficult for her to breath at this altitude.
When you renew your drivers license mark the box saying you want to be a donor. Let your family know you want to be a donor. You never know whose life you might save. Be a donor. Be a hero.
