I cannot express strongly enough, how much of a difference Sierra Crest Academy has made on my son. This school was our last option for school success for my son. I was at wits-end and had come to the assumption that my son would most likely not graduate high school.
My son has been struggling in school since the third grade. I have requested countless times that the Carson City School District evaluate my son for learning disabilities. The few times that I actually received a returned phone call, I was told that he's just lazy. His middle school English teacher suggested to me, "Why don't you just let him fail?"
We had tried the way-over-crowded Carson High School, without success. Then we were told about Sierra Crest Academy.
Wow. What a wonderful non-traditional learning experience. My son actually looks forward to school. He recently bragged to me about an A- on a history test. I don't remember the last time he even came close to an A on anything. We finally found something that works. I pray that we don't lose this school. I know that my son will not graduate if this school closes.
