The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory which takes effect 10 a.m. and will last through the day until 8 p.m. South winds of 15-30 mph with gusts of up to 50 mph are expected in Carson Valley with gusts up to 60 mph in the foothills and wind-prone areas. Crosswinds will make driving difficult on Highways 395 and 50, and Interstate 80.
Motorists should expect areas of blowing dust to reduce visibility along Highway 50 east of Carson City.
At Lake Tahoe, a lake wind advisory begins at 8 a.m. and a winter weather advisory begins at 5 p.m., and will remain in effect until Monday morning.
The weather service has issued a winter storm warning for Mono County above 7,500 feet starting at 5 p.m.
The forecast calls for isolated showers after 11 a.m. The skies should be cloudy with a high near 57.
There's a 50 percent chance of scattered rain or snow showers tonight. The snow level will drop to 5,000 feet at 11 p.m. It will be windy tonight. The chance of rain or snow showers will continue into Monday.
