There aren't very many opportunities to get a $10 hair cut from a professional hairstylist, but the staff of Tangles Hair Studio & Day Spa has invited the participation of other Carson Valley hair salons to give haircuts for a good cause.
The second annual Gig 4 Wigs Cut-a-thon at 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday features food, live music, raffles, chair massages, and hair cuts offered at a suggested donation of $10.
The fundraiser is to provide wigs and head coverings at no cost to those who may have lost their hair during cancer treatments. They raised $2,500 and donated more than 160 inches of hair to Locks of Love at last year's cut-a-thon.
The cut-a-thon benefits the Giving Room, created by Tangles Salon owner Jennifer Wing, a space set aside to carry wigs and head coverings for patients undergoing treatment.
Raffle items donated by community businesses include gift baskets from Permanent Cosmetics, Tuscany Tan, A La Carte Nails, Kid Pix, Joyce's Jewelry, Full Belly Deli, Battleborn Wine, Tires Plus, Carson Beauty Supply, Nails by Mariah, FISH thrift shop, Netti's Creations, Brooke Roberts aesthetician and Wildhorse Bar & Grill.
The cut-a-thon is for anyone needing a haircut. People may choose to donate their hair to Locks of Love.
The Gig 4 Wigs Cut-a-thon is at Tangles Hair Studio & Day Spa, 1255 Highway 395, Gardnerville. Information, 782-2742.
