The driver in a fatal rollover was found in violation of his probation and sent to jail for six months.
Jerett McAlister admitted that he used methamphetamine in violation of his probation for vehicular manslaughter.
East Fork Justice of the Peace Jim EnEarl told McAlister that if he qualified for an inpatient treatment program he could write a letter to the court toward the end of his jail term.
McAlister, 27, still faces a May 25 sentencing for possession of methamphetamine in district court in connection with his March 15 arrest.
McAlister was the driver in a July 15, 2009, accident along Carson River that killed Christopher Medina.
He was found guilty on Feb. 18 and sentenced to 180 days in jail suspended for two years.
McAlister was arrested less than a month later after his probation officer received a tip he was dealing drugs.
McAlister told District Judge Dave Gamble he was an addict and would like to participate in drug court.
