Partial settlement has been reached with Anaconda Copper concerning last fall's pollution of a portion of the East Carson River according to the Nevada Fish and Game Commission. Pollution of nearly 10 miles of fishing water on the East Carson by sulphuric acid compounds and irons was attributed to an escape of material from a holding pond near Leviathan mine, operated by Anaconda. Settlement primarily involved preventive measures to keep pollution from reoccurring. The copper company voluntarily donated $4,000 to aid in restoring the affected ports of the river. The company was not bound to make the donation but did it of its own volition.
