About 30 people turned out on Monday night for a presentation on the town, county and state budgets. The session sponsored by the Democrats, featured County Manager T. Michael Brown, lobbyist Mary Walker, the town managers of Genoa and Minden and Gardnerville Town Board member Robin Bernard. Walker repeated the oft-heard message that the 2011 Legislature is going to be difficult.

It's as warm out right now as it is forecast to be all day. In fact at 51 degrees up on the west bench, it may be warmer. A wind advisory is in effect until 5 p.m., which I assume means that at some point the wind's going to pick up. If it does, expect 20-30 mph winds with gusts up to 60 mph in wind prone areas, Centerville that means you. Expect cross winds along east-west routes, including Highway 50.

A strong cold front is expected to pass through the region this afternoon. Expect rain showers before 11 a.m. then rain or snow. The snow level will drop from 7,600 feet to 4,700 feet this afternoon. Radar shows the storm is just now over the central valley in California.
