Reid to speak at Douglas Democrats convention

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto will speak to Douglas County Democrats at their county convention in Minden Saturday.

"We are extremely honored and excited to have Sen. Harry Reid attend the Douglas County Democratic Convention," said Douglas Democrats Chair Nancy Epstein. "He has done so much for Nevada, and we are looking forward to supporting his candidacy."

The convention, set for Minden Elementary School, 1170 Baler Street, Minden, opens at 9 a.m. and closes at noon.

Also speaking are Jo Etta Brown, Democratic candidate for Assembly District 39, Wayne Archer, Douglas County School Board candidate, and various primary election candidates and surrogates.

The convention will choose delegates to attend the June State Democratic Convention in Las Vegas, adopt platform planks and elect members of the Douglas County Democratic Party Central Committee.

Platform chair Chris Lunn released the Douglas County Democratic Central Committee's 2010 draft platform on the committee's Web site, douglasdems.org, this week.
