There's a chance that Valley residents could wake up to slushy roads if a band of heavier precipitation develops over Western Nevada, according to a statement issued by the National Weather Service this afternoon.
Snow levels through much of eastern California and Western Nevada have fallen to 4,500 to 5,000 feet thanks to colder air that arrived behind Tuesday's cold front.
Rain and snow showers are expected to continue tonight and into Thursday morning.
The forecast shows a potential a band of heavy precipitation somewhere between Reno and Bridgeport.
The heaviest bands are expected to produce up to 3 inches of snow at elevations above 5,000 feet and 1-2 inches of slush below 5,000 feet.
Accumulations could affect the Thursday morning commute on Highway 395 through Indian Hills and then up into the Pine Nuts.
Kingsbury Grade and Highway 50 at Lake Tahoe could also be affected.
