The R-C Morning Report

About 2 inches of Sierra cement fell in Genoa overnight, and it's still coming down on this Earth Day morning. The National Weather Service radar is showing a big old blob of activity running along Interstate 80 and moving southwest and bumping up against the east slope of the Sierra, so I'm betting it's going to keep snowing for a while.

Snow tires or chains are being required on Highway 395 from Bridgeport to Coleville, from the state line north to Muller Lane, from Stephanie to Spooner Junction in Carson City, and then from William Street to Bowers Mansion Road. Snow tires or chains are being required over Kingsbury Grade, and pretty much anywhere else on the east shore of Lake Tahoe. Chains or four-wheel drive are being required on Highway 88 from Woodfords to Silver Lake.

School board trustees reluctantly went back over their decision to narrow the field of superintendent candidates back down to Mary Bull and David Jensen thanks to their apparent difficulty in following the Nevada Open Meeting law. They took three straw polls last week that they counted in secret, something the law prohibits. No one I know has filed a complaint, but if they did it could torpedo the entire process.
