The Douglas High track & field program saw a couple of school records fall Saturday afternoon at the Big George Invitational in Minden - the final tuneup for most schools in the region before the four-week championship stretch extending through state.

Tiger sophomore Amanda Brazeau cleared 11 feet in the pole vault to win the event and break her own school record of 10 feet acheived last season during the regional championships. It marked the third time she's broken the record in her career. She's now lifted the proverbial bar three feet since arriving on campus as the previous school record was 8 feet (Shasta Ceragioli, 1997).

The other record to fall Saturday was in the triple jump as Douglas senior Johnny Pollack turned in a distance of 44 feet, 6.5 inches - bettering Will Sheerin's school record mark of 42-2.5 (set in 2006) by more than two feet.

"There were definitely some outstanding individual performances today," Douglas coach Jim Abbott said. "We were pleased. We're getting there, not quite where we need to be yet (as a team), but we are getting there."

The Douglas girls' came up short against regional-favorite McQueen in the team standings, but took second ahead of Manogue, Carson and Whittell in order at the 14-team invitational.
