Nearly a decade to the day after it opened, The Historian Inn closed its doors.

The hotel's Web site said that due to economic conditions, the hotel has stopped taking reservations and it's registration office is closed.

Two businesses along Highway 395 attached to the hotel, Ruby Rose Cowboy Clothes and Elation's Salon, remain open.

The Historian Inn opened April 26, 2000, in the lot where the Harris store that housed Coventry Cross Thrift Store and the East Fork Gallery was burned down in 1995 by an arsonist.

The 35-room motel received a governor's tourism award in 2001.

General Manager Jeannie Johnson was one of four partners in Nevada Johnson Ventures, Inc., which also includes her husband Greg, when the hotel was built.

A phone message was left at the hotel.
