Electricity was restored to Douglas High School in time for lunch. The power to the high school came back on at 9:55 a.m.

Three Gardnerville Ranchos schools are still without power at last word, with teachers conducting classes in the hallways at Meneley Elementary.

High winds knocked out power to four Carson Valley schools early this morning, also taking out traffic lights and businesses in Minden, Gardnerville and the Gardnerville Ranchos.

Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School, Meneley and Scarselli elementary schools were without power.

"We have no clear estimate on when power will be restored," Assistant Superintendent Rich Alexander said. "We're keeping the students in school, where they will be safest. The cafeteria will make sandwiches, so they'll be fed."
