Convicted sex offender Dirk Klinke will serve up to 17 years in prison for luring a teenage girl to his Carson City home for sex, and possessing child pornography.
"When I committed these crimes I was not thinking of anyone but myself," said Klinke. "It hurts inside to see what I've done to all these people."
Klinke, 28, was arrested in December after the 15-year-old girl he met on a social networking site snuck out and met him for sex. When the girl's parents found her missing, they called police. When she returned a short time later, she led them to Klinke.
Officers discovered Klinke was convicted in 2004 in Scottsdale, Ariz., of sexual misconduct with a minor and attempted sexual misconduct with a minor. In court Tuesday, he said he spent five years in prison.
A search of Klinke's computers revealed hundreds of pornographic photographs and videos of children as young as 2 years old, police reports indicate.
Klinke pleaded guilty in March to statutory sexual seduction and three counts of possession of child porn - the 15-year-old girl being the subject in two of the photos.
Tuesday, her mother made a victim impact statement to the court, detailing how Klinke affected their lives.
"You were preying on children. She's a good girl, she's 15, but she's just a little girl," the mother said, as a Klinke supporter scoffed in the gallery. "He's sick and he needs to go to jail for a very long time. He's done it before and he'll do it again."
Assistant District Attorney Gerald Gardner noted how two psychiatrists determined Klinke has a high-risk of reoffending.
"There's no doubt that he will be a danger to young girls for the rest of his life," said Gardner. "The fact is that people who possess child porn - download it on the Internet, ask young women to send them child pornography, trade it or post it - are victimizing these children. If it weren't for the consumers of child pornography ... you wouldn't have children in Eastern Europe and Asia being raped and sexually abused in order to feed their habit."
Judge Jim Wilson sentenced Klinke to consecutive terms of 24 to 60 months on the statutory sex charge, 28 to 72 months each on two child porn charges and a concurrent sentence of 28 to 72 months on the third child porn charge.
