Identity theft seminar in Carson

The Carson City Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans sponsors a free community seminar on identity theft presented by privacy professional Tom Considine, 8:30 a.m. Saturday, at Bethlehem Lutheran School, 1837 Mountain St., Carson City.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Refreshments available. A shredder truck will be available, with the limit of two boxes of personal paperwork per attendee. Information, Diane Medlock at Bethlehem Lutheran, 882-5252.


Museum open for the season

The grand re-opening event for the Genoa Courthouse Museum, 2304 Main St., is Saturday with spinning and weaving demonstrations by Marilyn Elligott and Kay Barcellos at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Free admission for seniors and students with accompanying adult. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Information, 782-4325.


Sponsors needed for car show

The 10th annual Big Mama's Show & Shine featuring cars, music, food and fun is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 8 at the Lampe Park Pavilion in Gardnerville. The event is a fundraiser for the Douglas County Senior Services Meals on Wheels program for homebound seniors.

Cars wanted for Rockathon

Cars are wanted and swap spaces are available for the Valley Cruisers Rockathon car show and swap meet, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 15, in Heritage Park in Gardnerville. Enter cars from any year for $10. Awards presented. Car-related swap booth spaces available for $10. Event includes music by Time Warp and hot dog sales by Valley Cruisers Car Club. Cinco de Mayo dinner dance

The St. Gall Youth Ministry hosts their Cinco de Mayo family Mexican dinner and dance, 6 p.m. Wednesday, at the church, 1343 Centerville, Lane, Gardnerville. Dinner served until 8 p.m. Music and dancing until 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $5, available until Monday at the church and at the door. The raffle prize is a youth Mongoose dirt bike. Christian rock concert

A Christian rock concert with Manic Drive (rated No. 1 by Air One radio), Solomon's Porch (Carson Valley's worship team), and Destination Paradise (rock with a message) is 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at High Sierra Fellowship, 1426 Industrial Way, Gardnerville.
