The dawn patrol is up today taking on Carson Valley's mosquito problem. The aircraft was loaded up this morning at Minden-Tahoe Airport and should be aloft when you read this.

Smoke in the Valley is coming from the 900-acre Bar fire in Plumas County. Firefighters expect to have a line around the fire by Friday. They say drift smoke will be visible along Highway 395. Firefighters also responded to a report of smoke 7:48 p.m. Tuesday from near Wolf Creek. No sign if that's a new fire or just the drift smoke.

Genoa Town Board members gave their endorsement to a new contract with the Carson Valley Arts Council on Tuesday for the second Cowboy Poetry & Music Festival. Now it's left to the arts council to approve the agreement at their Aug. 12 meeting.

Town of Minden is meeting 6 p.m. at the CVIC Hall to discuss building the Amber Way water tank. The town may award the bid for the tank to Qualcon Contractors for $2.076 million tonight. They are also accepting a donation of a painting of the USS Minden from naval artist Wayne Scarpaci.
