Former Tahoe Township Justice of the Peace Steve McMorris will be back in the saddle in East Fork if county commissioners approve a 30-day contract today with him to fill in after Justice of the Peace Jim EnEarl's resignation becomes effective on Friday. A Genoa resident, McMorris is taking the job on a temporary basis while the county commission finds a permanent replacement for EnEarl.

There's lots of water work on today's commission agenda, including $2.82 million bid on the pipeline between Minden and Indian Hills, and another bid for $1.13 million to work to fix the Jobs Peak Ranch Water System. Commissioners are also hearing an emergency ordinance that would raise $5.67 million in bonds for the county's share of the pipeline between Minden and Indian Hills. Commissioners meet 1 p.m. at the Douglas County Administrative Building, 1616 Eighth St., in Minden.

Today will be more of the same weatherwise with sunny skies and a high in the low 90s, but this weekend looks like we may see some thunderstorm. Expect the temperatures to drop into the low 80s on Sunday.
