The Wolf Creek fire really blew up, growing from 50 acres on Wednesday to 363 acres by the end of the day on Thursday. It's too early for an update, but as of last night they had a line 30 percent around the fire. I'll wager that line made some progress overnight. Smoke from Wolf Creek and other California fires is mixing in the Valley, so don't expect much relief from that today.
Thursday was a long day for emergency services personnel. It started at 5:41 a.m. when a vehicle missed the curve on Airport Road and clipped the Soar Minden building. It wrapped up at 10 p.m. when firefighters extinguished a wildfire in Indian Hills.

We have our first weather statement in a while announcing the arrival of thunderstorms in Western Nevada starting today and lasting through Sunday. Expect most of the storms to park it north of Interstate 80 today and Saturday and then spread into the rest of Nevada on Sunday.
Today's forecast calls for isolated showers after 11 a.m., otherwise partly cloudy with a high near 88. Expect winds 5-10 mph away from the storms. The chance for storms gets better as the weekend progresses, with our highest chance on Sunday.
