The Wolf Creek fire 15 miles southeast of Markleeville grew to 752 acres on Saturday as it continues to burn in mixed forest, with short runs and group tree torching, according to a report issued by National Interagency Coordination Center this morning.
The cost of fighting the fire on the edge of the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness was reported as $868,000 as of this morning.
About 160 firefighters are working to keep the fire from burning into private property, while using it to manage undergrowth on the northwest side.
Heavy rain fell on the burn on Saturday evening, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood warning for the fire area.
No structures are in danger as a result of the fire. Four helicopters and four hand crews continue to work on the blaze.
Lightning set a fire near China Spring that East Fork firefighters brought quickly under control. The fire was reported at 4:18 p.m. Saturday. The fire prompted calls from residents reporting fires in near the Douglas County Transfer Station.
