The longest running event in southern Douglas County marks its 43rd year as the Topaz Volunteer Fire Department hosts its annual barbecue on Sept. 5.
Chief Dave Thomas said the volunteers have ordered 700 pounds of roasts for the deep pit, they've received a great response from area merchants for raffle items and more than 100 residents have committed to bringing specialty salads.
Thomas said there will be raffles and auctions throughout the day.
The Buffalo Country Band will be providing live music for the event.
The barbecue will take place Sunday Labor Day weekend at the Topaz Lake Volunteer Fire Department, 1990 Austin St. behind the Topaz Lodge from noon to 6 p.m.
