The Tahoe-Douglas Elks host two delicious events at the lodge this next week and their annual carnival is set for Labor Day weekend.
Everyone is invited to their monthly breakfast this Sunday, Aug. 22 from 8:30-11 a.m. The menu includes sausage, eggs, pancakes, omelets, juice and coffee, all for just $6 per adult and $3.50 per child.
Then on Thursday, Aug. 26, head on back to the lodge for their yummy tacos, just $1.50 each. Taco night goes from 5-7 p.m.
The Tahoe-Douglas Elks Lodge is located at 1226 Pit Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos.
The annual Summerfest Carnival is Sept. 2-6 at Lampe Park. There will be a wide variety of rides and amusements for all ages, along with midway game booths and other attractions.
Plenty of food will be available (it's an Elks event after all), including hamburgers, hot dogs with chili and cheese, Indian tacos and ice cream. Margaritas, wine and beer will be offered every evening until closing; sodas and water are always available. Friday night is Lady Bartender Night, which I've been told is always a fun event in and of itself.
Carnival hours are 4-10 p.m. on Thursday, 4-11 p.m. on Friday, noon-11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and noon-9 p.m. on Labor Day.
Pre-sale tickets are available for $15 through Wednesday, Sept. 2. They are good for an all-day wrist band and may be redeemed any day of the carnival. That same wrist band will cost $25 once the carnival opens.
Pre-sale tickets may be purchased at Accolades Trophies, the Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Barbers, Carson Valley Garden, Kelley Tires, Especially for You, Full Belly Deli, Les Schwab Tires, Pizza Barn, or from one of the friendly Elks members.
Information, contact Gary or Toni Wendt at 265-6136 or the Lodge at 265-4523.
School back in session
Hard to believe that summer vacation has come and gone. Elementary schools were back in session on Wednesday; the middle and high schools start back on Monday. Please use extra care when driving near our schools and be aware that the speed limit decreases to 15 miles per hour during school hours (25 mph near the high school).
