The Main Street Event with cars, music, food, vendors is 4-11 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, on Third, Fourth, and Fifth streets and Esmeralda Avenue in downtown Minden.
Today's entertainment includes county and classic rock music by Sierra Express, and tri-tip and spaghetti dinners. Saturday's '50s to '70s music is provided by Johnny Star in Minden Park.
New this year are movies - "American Graffiti" and maybe a James Dean movie - in the CVIC Hall during dinner tonight. Vendors will sell toy cars to satellites, and pinstriping can be done on-site.
Sign-ups are 3-5 p.m. today at the Holiday Inn Express in Minden. The party moves to downtown for dinner, music and the show and shine in Minden Park through Saturday.
