Fire officials on Friday extinguished a small fire on the downhill side of Highway 28 one mile east of Secret Harbor on Lake Tahoe's East Shore.
The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District responded first at about noon
with a brush truck and the Slide Mountain Hand Crew, said Lisa Herron, public affairs specialist with the U.S. Forest Service.
"North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District responded very quickly," said
Herron.
Forest service fire officials assumed control of the scene and proceeded to
subdue the blaze.
The fire is in "patrol status," which means there is no visible smoke coming from the site, but firefighters are continuing to monitor the scene.
"The site will be monitored overnight," said Herron.
Two trees and some vegetation were burned in the fire, Herron said. The cause of the blaze is under investigation, she said.
