Two women are facing sentencing this morning to charges they were in possession of property reported missing in a series of Gardnerville Ranchos vehicle burglaries. Lea M. Jaramillo, 20, and Michelle H. Howard, 21, are expected to appear in Douglas County District Court this morning in connection with the May 8-9 thefts. Recovered items included hundreds of compact disks, backpacks, and a camera.

Smoke from the Wolf Creek fire was enough to prompt a false alarm on Saturday afternoon, according to the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center. The 900-acre fire continues to burn into the Carson-Iceberg wilderness.

We're supposed to see a warming trend this week, with high temperatures climbing to 95 degrees by Wednesday. That will turn around with highs dropping again by the weekend, if the forecast holds. Today expect a high temperature of 86 degrees, with an afternoon breeze of 5-10 mph.
