Minden supply store specializes in everything horseshoe

Those looking to pick up horseshoes, nails and hoof care tools can now visit Minden Hoof Care & Farrier Supply located off Airport Road.

After moving the Hoof-it Technologies' warehouse to Minden, the company wanted to make sure local farriers, trimmers and hoof care specialists could pick up supplies without having to drive to Carson City.

The business offers everything from keg shoes to hoof stands, but will also look into stocking customer requests.

"Continuing with the global success and customer-service based philosophy of Hoof-it Technologies," said company spokesperson Leslie Batistich, "we will do what we can to provide quality hoof care and farrier products and exceptional service to everyone who shops with us."

Minden Hoof Care & Farrier Supply is located at 2222 Park Place, building 2, suite E. Store hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturdays by appointment.

Energize Studios in Minden, which offers Pilates and massage, now offers the Indo-Row machine as well.

Owner and certified instructor Kelly Salazar described Indo-Row as the "perfect calorie burn."

Designed by Josh Crosby, a rowing champion and professional endurance athlete, and Jay Blahnik, an award-wining instructor, the machine is ideal for those who want to burn calories, for interval training, and working out in a group, team-oriented environment. No rowing experience is necessary.

Carson Valley resident Jan Vandermade has opened a State Farm Insurance agency in Carson City at 1940 Highway 50.

Succeeding retiring agent Dana Hill, Vandermade was formerly the area director of marketing for Marriott Vacation Club's resorts at Lake Tahoe for 10 years and attended the University of Colorado, majoring in business.

Joining Vandermade will be Dawn Gribble, Angie Azevedo and Matt Riddle.

All together, the team represents more than 25 years of insurance and customer service experience.

Vandermade is a member of both the Carson City and Carson Valley chambers of commerce.

He and his wife Gena are 25-year-plus residents of Carson Valley. They have three children and enjoy surfing, motocross, skateboarding and snowboarding, plus golf.

They're also members of Hilltop Community Church in Carson City.

Vandermade said he is excited about the new opportunity and anxious to provide "good neighbor service."
