A visitation is 5-8 p.m. today with a rosary starting at 6 p.m. at Walton's Funerals & Cremations in Gardnerville for Carson Valley resident Joan Cecelia Mavica, who died Aug. 24, 2010, in Carson City.

A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville.

Born Jan. 6, 1920, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Anthony and Agnes DeBlasi, she has been a resident of the Carson Valley since 1990, moving here from New Jersey. She was a devout Catholic.

Mrs. Mavica was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph V. Mavica who died in 1991 and a granddaughter, Tatiana A. Ingraham who died in 2005.

She is survived by son Dr. Joseph M. Mavica of Boca Raton, Fla.; daughters Palma M. Mavica of Carson City, Cecelia A. Ingraham of Hillsborough, N.J. and Jeanine C. Mavica of Ewing, N.J.; brother Thomas DeBlasi of Connecticut; sisters, Agnes Seal of Long Beach, Mich., and Therese DeBlasi of Brick, N.J.; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Burial will be in Eastside Memorial Park in Minden. Arrangements entrusted to Walton's Funerals & Cremations in Gardnerville.
